Dear Heather,

Do you think it is a fear of failure or of success that stops me from working on my hypnosis business more?

From, The Procrastinating Mama

Dear Procrastinating Mama,

In short, no. I have a few theories that come to mind that I will share, so please take what resonates with you and leave the rest behind.

I am not saying that you don’t experience feelings around success and fail, as you may very well, but instead, I am saying that if it does seem to get in the way of you doing what you want to, it is most likely the perceptions of failure and success that are causing your discomfort.

Often, all we really need is a change of perspective.

Failure is success and success is failure.

As Michael Jordan said, “I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

It may instead be that you haven’t fully committed to yourself and your dream or connected to the part of you that wants it soooo bad that you will prioritize it over things that are more comfortable and easy to do.

It is most likely that you have work to do personally, not because you are stuck or blocked or that something is wrong with you but because stepping into a new position—stepping into the ring and putting yourself out there to help others — brings the shadows to the surface and basically forces us as healers, to heal. A better way of saying this is that it offers us the opportunity to face our own discomfort and evolve, grow and level up!

Perhaps, because you are a mama,  the expectations that you have for how much you should be able to door or accomplish in a certain amount of time are too high, causing you to constantly feel behind.

Keep in mind that anything that arises in this area is an opportunity to acknowledge feelings of discomfort.

Grab your journal and let the answers to these questions flow:

How can you know your true resilience if you don’t fall?

How can you know what you are capable of if you stay comfortable?

How can you help others if you never try?

Joining us in the Hypnosis Healers Club may be helpful to you as you can get support to flourish through the trying times of having a healing business and you may even find others who feel the same way!
